CHARLESTON to Savannah

Introduction to Offshore Sailing & Liveaboard Life - 5+ Days

Offshore Passage expedition

Step aboard SV Indie Sky for a true offshore adventure — this coastal expedition from Charleston, SC to Savannah, GA is designed to build real-world confidence at sea. This journey immerses you in the fundamentals of offshore passage making, helping you develop the mindset, skills, and experience essential for becoming a capable offshore sailor.

With a mast too tall for the Intracoastal Waterway, we sail entirely in the Atlantic Ocean. Expect to navigate shifting winds, Gulf Stream-influenced currents, and dynamic weather — the real-world conditions that test and teach seamanship.

This 5+ day training expedition includes both offshore sailing and nearshore operations, giving crew the opportunity to gain experience with anchoring, watch standing, coastal navigation, and docking in marinas along the Southeast coast.

🧭 Who should go

This trip is ideal for:

  • Sailors aiming to strengthen their sailing resume to meet bareboat charter or insurance requirement

  • Crew eager to experience the Atlantic coastal route firsthand
