We are not a charter company. We are an adventure company.  Our adventures focus primarily on 3 specific areas: Exploring, Dreaming, & Discovering. We don’t follow a rigid itinerary or fixed schedule. Instead, we let the sea and the weather guide us. As a crew member, you’ll learn to be resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable with the spontaneity that comes with life at sea. 

Exploring:

Think of crewing with us as a choose your own adventure book.  There are anchorages, villages, cuisines, caves, dive spots, surf spots, cultures, people, dances, retreats, festivals, fashions, music, wildlife and much, much more that you never even knew existed.  When you crew on SV Indie Sky you may just find your new favorite __________.   You aren't just along for the ride, you are weighing in on where we go, when we go, and what we do next.  If our crew is loving an anchorage or a spot on a city quay we may stay an extra few days.  If we're not feeling it or have an amazing weather window to get to a new destination, we may move on.

Dreaming:

Many people dream about a life at sea and being a full-time live-aboard sailors.  But before you quit your job, sell your house and uproot your family, we strongly suggest you try it first.  We can show you first-hand what life is like as a full-time live-aboard sailor. You’ll gain skills, knowledge and confidence by doing. As crew, you'll take an active role in trip planning, provisioning, maintenance, repairs, preparing meals, crossing borders, dealing with customs and more.  This is a much different experience than a crewed or bare-boat charter. From a sailing standpoint you'll be exposed to a multitude of weather and sailing conditions.  You'll be at the helm, you'll stand watch, you'll learn to monitor weather, you’ll make decisions on reefing and making sail changes.  You'll see what it takes to be a captain, what it takes to manage crew morale and make go vs. no-go decisions. Lastly, you'll feel what it's like to make landfall after successfully guiding your vessel across an open ocean.  One last thing- no prior experience is necessary. 

Discovering:

Many of our trips have a specific focus. Some are objective-based, designed to help you learn a new skill or deepen your knowledge. Others revolve around chasing conditions for a specific sport—seeking wind, waves, or perfect weather windows. Some journeys are geared toward earning a certification or mastering a new discipline. Certain trips are right of passage- like completing an Atlantic crossing, transiting through the Corinth Canal, or setting a new PR for freedive depth. These experiences might be led by industry experts, professional athletes, influencers—or by the SV Indie Sky crew themselves. No matter the focus or the guide, we believe the experiences you gain as part of the Indie Sky crew are truly life-changing.

In closing we’re not a charter company, and we’re not a sailing school. We’re a crew of like-minded adventurers drawn together by a love for the sea and a willingness to push beyond our comfort zones. Every expedition is unique, and every crew brings something new to the journey.  We are confident that we can provide an experience that will allow you to grow and change for the better.  We hope to see you on the water soon!
